The obtuseness of the NPP regional leadership in Oti Region has come under fire, reaching a crescendo following a recent press release. In response to a statement issued by an opposing office regarding a misstep made by the NPP’s Oti Regional Chairman post H.E John Dramani Mahama’s “Building the Ghana We Want Together” Tour, the NPP leadership issued a counter-press release that has drawn significant criticism.
The response from the NPP Regional Chairman’s camp, penned by a seemingly inexperienced individual, lacks depth in understanding governance and administrative structures in Ghana and the Oti Region. This lack of insight is evidenced in their attempt to justify the Chairman’s blunder.
The crux of the matter lies in the assertion made by the contracted novice, suggesting that Mahama’s tour was merely a campaign effort, failing to recognize its purpose as a listening tour aimed at understanding the needs of Ghanaians. This oversight underscores a fundamental misunderstanding of Mahama’s approach and the significance of citizen engagement in policy-making.
Furthermore, the novice’s claim that Oti Region didn’t exist before 2016 displays a concerning lack of historical knowledge. Contrary to their assertion, Oti Region has long been part of the Volta Region, with its recent creation aimed at fostering development.
In contrast to the NPP’s approach, the NDC, under Mahama’s leadership, has demonstrated a commitment to inclusive governance, actively involving citizens in manifesto drafting to address pressing needs. The list of projects attributed to Mahama’s administration in each constituency stands as a testament to this commitment.
The challenge is now extended to the NPP to provide a comparable list of achievements in Oti Region during their tenure, highlighting a potential disparity in developmental efforts.
The press release highlights a broader concern regarding the depth of understanding and commitment to inclusive governance within the NPP’s regional leadership in Oti Region. As the political landscape evolves, the expectations for informed and equitable governance remain paramount.
BELOW IS THE FULL STATEMENT RELEASED BY THE OTI REGIONAL COMMUNICATION OFFICER OF THE NDC.
THE OBTUSENESS OF THE NPP REGIONAL LEADERSHIP IN OTI REGION HAS REACHED THE CRESCENDO
My attention has been drawn to yet another mullock hasty and peely- wally rant and rave dead ringer press release in response to a statement issued by my office in relation to a blunder committed by the Oti Regional Chairman of the NPP post-H.E John Dramani Mahama’s “Building the Ghana We Want Together” Tour.
In an attempt to respond to my counter press release, the NPP Regional Chairman hired a neophyte who lacks perspicacity in the governance and the administrative divisions of Ghana and Oti Region worthless of our attention to put into writing a warped logic statement as counter defence for the blunder of the Regional Chairman.
Since the novice seeks to represent the views of the Regional Chairman, there is no doubt or whatsoever that, the Regional Chairman of the NPP is in full support of the said statement issued.
The contracted novice in his distorted thinking claims that, H.E John Dramani Mahama was rather on a campaign tour and not on a tour to listen to the needs of Ghanaians.
Clearly, the novice doesn’t know the difference between campaign tour and a listening tour.
If he had carefully and objectively followed the activities of the tour, he would have noticed that, H.E John Dramani Mahama has given ample time to opinion leaders and individuals representing the various unions and institutions to present their needs for the NDC to build people centred manifesto around it which will help the next NDC government in 2025 to address the core needs of Ghanaians and not to make the mistake of prioritizing National Cathedral, LGBTQ+ state sponsored advocacy, chartered presidential private jet and many other blunders committed by the current NPP government.
It is worthy to note that, the NPP since its inception never engaged the citizens in their manifesto drafting hence seeing the NDC always working with the people to outdoor a workable, realistic and people centered manifesto for the people and by the people is something that gets them worried over their chances in any general election to be conducted on a fair ground.
However, the contracted novice fails to understand this simple underlining approach in the governance of the people hence his warped logic rantings.
Again, the hired novice claimed that, Oti Region never existed prior to 2016. This is the worst ever reasoning a Regional Chairman could alluded to in this regard unless they want us to believe that, the current Oti Enclave and her districts never existed in Ghana prior to 2017 when the NPP took over and the Oti Enclave was carved out of Togo Republic or the Moon by Mr. Akuffo Addo and Bawumia during the creation of the additional 6 new regions.
For the avoidance of doubt, let me school the Neophyte on the history of Oti Region. Oti Region as we know today was originally part of the Volta Region with 26 MMDA’s. However, after the creation of the Region which any other government could have done even better with developments, the Upper/ Northern Volta is realigned with 9 MMDAs to fasttrack the development of the Oti Region which is yet to materialize under the NPP government for the past 7 years.
Hope the contracted novice finds this short and summarized tutorials worthy of learning and retaining in his thinking cup.
Ghanaians expect a lot of upper level thinking from the political class and not the kind of warped logic response to my earlier press release.
The novice however went on to state some projects and even stated categorically in error that those projects were started by Former President Kuffuor even though he claimed Oti Region never existed prior to 2017 but his reasoning clearly shows that 2017 predates 2001 to 2008!
Also, the novice claimed in his poetic remarks that, most of the projects undertaken under H.E John Mahama received funding from the MMDA’s and not Central government. One would have asked if he knows there is a fund called the DACF that the central government always release to the MMDA’s to cater for such capital intensive projects? I wouldn’t blame the novice because under the Bawumia Economic Management Team, the MMDA’s scarcely receive the full and expected quota of the common fund as it used to be under the NDC government hence his obtusity in making relevant point in that aspect of his ill-informed logic statement.
The NPP, Nana Akuffo Addo and Bawumia led Administrations have woefully failed to leave a legacy in each Constituency when they had enough resources at their disposal than any other government in the 4th Republic.
The argument of funding various sources of the NDC’s project from the respective Municipal and District Assemblies in the region is an admission that, the NDC government led by H.E John Dramani Mahama ensured value for money and was prudent in managing the scarce resources at their disposal at the time. The situation is completely different under Akuffo Addo Bawumia led administrations as witnessed now.
The Nation Builder John Dramani Mahama has proven beyond reasonable doubts that, he has Oti Region at heart and that is evidenced in the projects listed in each Constituency. For the sake of emphasis and without ambiguity, the projects below are the
legacies of Prez Mahama in each Constituency
We challenge the rank and file of NPP to list down projects undertaken by Nana Akuffo |Bawumia Constituency by Constituency in Oti Region over their 7 to almost 8years in Office.

Clearly, the novice and the Regional Chairman of the NPP have proven that the projects stated in my earlier press release exist and were all occasioned and commissioned by the NDC government under H.E John Dramani.
Governance is continuous and it takes a critical thinking President to start, continue and complete life changing projects to address the economic, educational and health needs of the people and that’s exactly what H.E John Dramani Mahama is good at and not the Cathedral and the Toilet building Presidency we currently have headed by Mr. Akuffo Addo and Mahamadu Bawumia.
The NPP Regional Chairman must learn to win a single seat in Oti region and that must be his priority especially going into the general election. His continuous demonstration of weak leadership is the resultant effect of the NPP having zero seat in the Region.
A wise counsel is what he needs and we have freely offered him
The good people of Oti Region shall always reward H.E John Dramani Mahama and NDC in leaving a footprint as legacy for the present and future generations.
Signed
