In a fervent critique of the Electoral Commission’s recent proposal to conclude polls at 3 PM in 2024, Diplomatic, the RCO-Oti Region of the NDC, denounces the initiative as harboring ill intentions and the potential to plunge the nation into chaos. Emphasizing the pivotal role of the Electoral Commission as an independent institution critical for maintaining political stability, he contends that even slight negligence from stakeholders could have dire consequences. The EC’s Proppsal to End Polls at 3 PM in 2024 is ill intended Motive and might Characterize with Chaos.

The EC must be an independent institution which is very critical to manage because, a little negligence on the part of the stakeholders can plunge this Country into a political instability.

This proposal to close the polls at 3 PM is a calculated attempt by Jean Mensa led EC not only to desenfranchise eligible voters but to also cause confusion and distabilise the Country into a perpetual Chaos.

The usual practice of closing at 5Pm should not be compromised. A common knowledge must tell the EC that, the voter population would increase in 2024 as compared to the 2020. This assertion is suppported by the limited registration Exercise the EC conducted recently that got them exceeded their target with a huge margin

If the EC is burnt on closing the Polls at 3Pm, it also meant that, most voters would be surppressed and denied their civil right in electing their preferred candidate to lead them and that would be a disaster prone.

Her justification of closing early to allow electoral officers to collate the votes in broad day- light to ensure transparency and orderliness is flimsy and lacks a veriable quantitative argument . The EC infact must rather be thinking of provinding an adequate lightining system across all the voting centres. This to me, would have been a proactive measure to ensure timely Colation and transparency

The management body of EC should also provide adequate eduction for voters to come out eartly and vote.

The proposal of the polls by EC to close at 3PM is indeed ill motive and lacks a logical facts and needed principles to be accepted as a good policy going into 2024 Elections
