2024 BUDGET IS TRULY EMPTY AND LACKS THE ECONOMIC POLICY FOR DEVELOPMENT – Diplomatic

In a stunning revelation, the 2024 Budget has been denounced by Minority leadership as not just empty, but as a document lacking the essential economic policies crucial for national development. The initial skepticism expressed by critics, notably Hon. Ato Forson, has transformed into a stark reality as attempts to gain parliamentary approval for the budget have failed on two consecutive occasions. Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, already under pressure from his own NPP MPs calling for his resignation due to perceived incompetence, faced further embarrassment as key members of his party failed to show up in Parliament for the crucial vote. Alhaji Bawumia, Chairman of the Economic Management Team, seems to be distancing himself from the economic mismanagement, contemplating a presidential bid to shield Nana Akuffo Addo’s alleged corrupt activities. Ghanaians, growing increasingly frustrated, eagerly await an opportunity to express their discontent towards eight years of perceived incompetence. As the minority stands firm in holding the NPP accountable, concerns arise that approving this budget could exacerbate the hardships faced by an already struggling populace, positioning the minority as a voice against potential fiscal irresponsibility. The plea is clear – Ghanaians hope for the 2024 Budget and Economic policy not to be approved, rallying behind the minority’s stance in the face of what is described as an economically deficient and politically motivated document.

Below is the statement released by the OTI Regional Communication Officer of the NDC.

THE 2024 BUDGET IS TRULY EMPTY AND LACKS THE ECONOMIC POLICY FOR DEVELOPMENT

When Minority leadership described the 2024 Budget as Empty, little did we know that, a time would come for parliament not to be able to approve the said Budget simply because it doesn’t inspire hope and must be thrown to the Dogs. Again, when the messenger Ken Ofori Atta appeared in parliament and after reading the Empty Budget, the prophecy of describing the Budget as Empty and High Tax Budget from Hon.Ato Forson has come to reality as an attempt to approve the Budget on two Conservative times prove futile. The finance minister Ken Ofori Atta who was called out by his own NPP MPs to resign for failure and incompetence, is now facing embarrassments as his own NPP MPs could not even show up in Parliament yesterday to approve his Empty Budget. The Chairman for the Economic Management Team, Alhaji Bawumia is now also running away from his mismanagement of the Economy as he is busy thinking of how to become a president to protect and cover up the corrupt activities of his master Nana Akuffo Addo. Ghanaians are waiting patiently to express their anger and revulsion towards his stewardship for eight(8) years. His incompetence is been glorified by the NPP as some of them see him as a stooge by Akuffo Addo who is seeking a third term through Bawumia. Infact, as we commend the minority leadership of holding the NPP accountable in Parliament, a point must be made that, the NPP MPs want the approval of the Empty Budget so to hoard monies for 2024 Elections. An approval of this budget shall impose further hardships on already impoverished Ghanaians. The Hope of Ghanaians is to continue to stand with the minority and pray fervently for the Budget Statement and Economic policy of the government for the year 2024 not to be approved

Long Live Ghana
