Dr. Nomhle Ngwenya is currently a Climate Risk Analyst at Nedbank and serves as the Vice Secretary for the Literary Association of South Africa (LITASA), which aims to promote reading and improve literacy rates amongst children.
“My Ph.D. journey has taught me resilience, passion, and the importance of determination in achieving one’s goals. With the support and guidance of my supervisor, Prof Simatele, I took on a very big project looking at innovative financial mechanisms in the bond market and how they could play a role in financing the low carbon transition in South Africa.” “I want to have a generational impact where through my hard work and determination I leave a legacy of difference. This could be having created a platform where more black females are inspired to be in STEM [science, technology, engineering, and maths] research and careers but also being part of innovative solutions to leveraging Africa to be the superpower it so rightly deserves to be,” said Dr. Nomhle Ngwenya.
