THE PEOPLE OF SALL DESERVE A REPRESENTATION IN THE 8TH PARLIAMENT AND MUST NOT BE REPRESENTED BY PRESIDENT
We are completely saddened, dispirited, disullutioned and disappointed at the utterances and comments made by one Mr Richard Ahiagbah, a deputy director of research in the Office of the president at the Jubilee House.
Richard Ahiagbah who was speaking on the Tuesday, January 11, 2022, edition of the Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV said. ” the people of the Santrokofi, Akpafu,Likpe Lolobi(SALL) have no need to worry about representation because they are represented by their president.
As a deputy director of research, Richard Ahiagbah ought to have known that, with the creation of the new district by the ministry of local government, the EC was under obligation to create a new constituency to give the people a representation in the 8th parliament, which has not been the case in SALL.
The 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, Chapter seven(7) talks about the representation of the people.
Again, Article (42) of the same constitution has explicitly talked about the right to vote and has captured it beautifully as ” every citizen of Ghana of eighteen years of age or above and of sound mind has the right to vote and is entitled to be registered as a voter for the purpose of public election.
Also, Article 47 clause (1) has also emphasized the need for the creation of constituencies for the purpose of election of members of Parliament as the Electoral Commission may prescribe and each constituency to have a representative in Parliament.
It’s therefore regrettable, sinful contemptuous and scandalous for a person like Richard Ahiagbah to dastardly make such reprehensible comments he sought to have made on a National TV because he should have known better than any individual at the office of the president.
We are optimistic that, the EC has been compromised by a deliberate agenda to disenfranchise the people of SALL and that has breach their constitutional right to representation in Parliament.
Again, Richard Ahiagbah should have known that, this has amounted to a constitutional crisis and a skewed democracy because we have some people in the country who are not represented in the 8th parliament.
The NPP, Electoral Commission and Naan Akuffo Addo government must render an apology to the people of SALL for such gerrymandering that gave birth to Peter Amewu as MP for the Hohoe Constituency. It must forever be on record that, the people of SALL were once disenfranchised through a press release on 6th December 2020 by the Ghana’s Electoral Commission led by wicked Jean Mensah.
This is a grievous sin and must not be forgiven because it was calculated and well executed to satisfy the then parliamentary candidate of NPP, Mr Peter Awemu who eventually benefitted from the orchestrated agenda n manipulation of the EC and the NPP.
It’s a known fact that, with the current hung parliament in place, the government of Akuffo Addo is at a disadvantage if Guan Constituency is created because we all know that, it’s a strong hold of the largest opposition NDC party and government is deliberately not ready to create the Constituency any time soon.
In conclusion, we want to emphasis that, Akuffo Addo and NPP government have failed the people of this country in diverse ways amongst which is a constitutional crisis which has left the good people of SALL without a representation in Parliament.
We are therefore calling on the president, the Electoral Commission and Richard Ahiagbah to render an apology to the good people of this country especially the four(4) traditional areas namely Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi respectively.
