Oti Regional Minister’s Refusal to Acknowledge the Oti Regional MPs caucus effort of Bringing the Eye Specialist to the Region for screening is Mischief and Unfounded – Mobarak Diplomatic.

The Oti Regional Minister, Hon. Joshua Makubu in an interview on beyond FM earlier this morning made a statement that the komfo Anokye Eye Specialists are in Collaboration with St. Josephs’s hospital to embark on an exercise of Eye Screening and no MPs caucus can take credit for such an exercise.

This statement is mischievous, unguided, and calculated at diverting attention from the already existing economic hardship, salary issues of the first and second lady, and the USD5 million bribery allegations against the chief justice which have become the topical issues in the country.

The regional Minister earlier this week called the MP for Akan Hon. Gramado and inquired from him what the whole exercise of eye screening was about and the MP for Akan Constituency explained to him. He then asked him(Hon. Gomado) why the Regional Coordinating Council was not contacted since the exercise would be done under their jurisdictions.
The regional minister has no idea about the Eye Screening Exercise in the region and was only briefed by Hon. Gomado after establishing contact with him.

The following points must set the records straight.

1. Oti Regional MPs caucus effort was what brought the eye screening exercise to the Region and subsequently to all Constituencies(Districts and Municipals).

  • 2. Adequate organisation was made by the MPs for medication, glasses, transportation etc. and no one can take such credit for their political interests.

3. The regional Minister called Hon. Gomado, MP for Akan only after seeing the statement on media.

  • 4. The Regional Minister must be honest to the public and tell them the Originators of the said program.

5. The effort of the Oti Regional MPs caucus must be commended and credited with the good initiative they have initiated towards securing better health conditions for their constituents.

We are not surprised that the Oti Regional Minister Hon. Joshua Makubu has failed to credit the MPs in the region for the good works they are doing because as a minister is yet to outline any policies that are geared towards the betterment of the people in the Oti Region. So the best he could do is to discredit the MPs so the people in the region would not measure him with the good works of the MPs.

Just like how his predecessors abysmally performed in the last four(4) years whiles in Office, we only hope that, there would be a change under his regime as Minister for Oti Region.

Let give credit to the well deserving MPs caucus of Oti Region because they care about the welfare of their people.

Finally, is just too unfortunate to discover his ambition to contest as a Parliamentary candidate on the NPP ticket in the Nkwanta South Constituency. It should be on record that, the good people of Oti Region have made their choices as far as representation in the 8th parliament is a concern and they would deliver to the glory of God.
The Regional Minister cannot be a replacement to the Nkwanta South legislator, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Kini, one of the industrious MPs amongst the Oti Regional MPs Caucus. The earlier the Oti Regional Minister concentrates on his mandate as a minister and serving his people, the better for us all.
