
Yes … IF our boldness is not in our own certainty and measure of faith but entirely in our firm knowledge that God alone knows what is absolutely best for us. James 4:3 gives us the parameters of effective prayer: “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” If our motive is “God, you’ve got to respond my way”, we should not expect a positive response. Our boldness must be rooted in the realization that our God is a loving God who is more interested in developing our character and faith than in our immediate circumstances. We can then be assured that whatever the “answer”, in the long run, it will be better for others and ultimately for us.
